Men's Association - Meets monthly on Saturday mornings for breakfast and fellowship. Service oriented. Hands-on community outreach and a parish ladies' appreciation dinner are among the group's projects. Contact Joe Rybicki or Harry Baughn.
Stephen Ministry - A Christian care lay ministry that provides one-to-one care to parishioners from well-chosen, trained, and supervised lay people within Good Shepherd.
The River of Healing - Good Shepherd's chapter of the International Order of St. Luke the Physician provides prayers and laying on of hands for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Members meet monthly at 9:30 a.m. each third Thursday. Members of the Order of St. Luke share the conviction that the healing ministry of Christ belongs in the Church today.
Prayer Shawl Ministry - This facet of the healing ministry at Good Shepherd teaches volunteers how to knit these very special shawls in the spirit of contemplative prayer. Completed shawls are blessed by the knitting group and by the priest or deacon during a church service before being presented to a recipient for their comfort and healing. Members meet monthly on second Mondays 10:00 a.m. at A Good Yarn, just behind Phillips & Lloyd bookstore in Hayesville.
Prayer Chain - A crisis prayer team that may be contacted at any time there is an urgent need for immediate prayer. Kathryn in the church office will be happy to relay your requests to the team by e-mail.
Cursillo - An international movement in the Church for the purpose of helping its members understand their individual callings to be Christian leaders -- at work, in social life, and with family. The goal is to bring all to Christ. Cursillo meets for a diocesan-wide 3-day weekend twice yearly, with follow-up bi-monthly support meetings ("Ultreya") for the parish (second Wednesdays at 7:30 pm) and weekly small group meetings ("Reunion"). Contact Harry or Rachel Baughn.
Grazers - Groups of four couples or singles who meet once a month to share a mini-potluck dinner, a luncheon, or go out together and get to know each other better. New groups are formed quarterly. Call Jim and Trish Reynolds, 706-379-6601, for more information. A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the parish hall.
Mountain of Faith - Established to educate, promote and facilitate the parish's planned giving and estate planning program. Mountain of Faith board members meet periodically and receive, review an acknowledge bequests and endowments to the Church. |
